Testing

Accuplacer is a placement test administered at the college for students planning to attend to a 2-year college. During the test, English and math are assessed to place students in the appropriate course level. 

 

Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) students who take an AP class are eligible to take an AP test in May of that year. Sign up is in the high school office and a fee is required. Colleges award credit based on students’ AP test score.

 

ACT

ACT is a college entrance exam required and accepted at most 4-year colleges nationwide. MN offers a statewide testing date in the spring of students’ junior year, students register and pay for the statewide test at the high school. ASVAB is an aptitude test that includes a career component. All NL-S sophomores take the ASVAB in the fall. Follow the link for more information.

 

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA)

MCA (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment) is a State test. Sophomores take the MCA Reading and MCA Science test. Juniors take the MCA Math. This link will take you to question samplers. 

 

PSAT (Pre-Sat)

PSAT (Pre-SAT) test is for high school juniors. It is a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students can take this as a practice for college entrance exams. 

 

SAT

SAT is a college entrance exam that is more prominent outside of the Midwest.
